Let’s not pretend that this is actually a reliable metric for anything. The NRA has been famously stubborn on fighting any and all attempts to revoke firearms and/or firearm licenses and allowances from anyone, regardless of whether they are proven to be violent criminals, or are mentally ill (despite the fact that the NRA also falsely blames gun violence on mental illness), or are plain ol’ dead.

If you wanted to use a proper statistic here to prove your point, instead of misleading your audience with intellectual dishonesty, you would actually look into the data about the usage of those concealed-carry firearms, and the other criminal activities of those with permits, particularly with Florida’s embrace of Stand Your Ground Laws.
