I don’t know how many times I can point at my very public commitment to defending civil liberties, which specifically includes not punishing law-abiding gun-owners, or anyone else, by infringing on their rights in the absence of a reason. (In fact, I’ve even written defenses against the ban of so-called “assault weapons”) And yet, you keep going back to that as your strawman counter example, accusing me of wanting to “coddle criminals and screw law abiding gun owners,” despite the fact that I said no such thing. I simply believe that our criminal justice system over-emphasizes things like teens smoking weed, and de-emphasizes things like misdemeanor assaults—and only one of those things is indicative of future violent behaviors. In fact, the vast majority those so-called “criminals” you accuse me of coddling may not actually be guilty of anything, and those who are have likely more than served their punishment already.
